The Mediterranean Unicycle Tour (MUT) was a long distance unicycle
ride from June 18 to July 6, 2007 starting in Ljubljana, Slovenia and ending in
Aix-en-Provence, France. Twelve riders unicycled through Slovenia, the coast of
Croatia, central Italy, Corsica, and the Côte d'Azur in France. Three people, two
on bicycles and one in the support vehicle, supported the unicyclists. The 19-day
tour traversed mountainous terrain and challenging coastal roads for 1106 km (687
miles), climbing a total of 12,500 m (41,000 feet).

In January and February 2007, a group of unicyclists from around
the world unicycled up the South Island of New Zealand. The two week, 900km
journey includes unicycling up the worlds steepest street, traversing an old rail
trail, climbing over various mountain passes, and crossing from East Coast to West
Coast and back again. |

A 2 week unicycle adventure in Thailand and Laos. Riders from
Australia, New Zealand, India, USA, Denmark, Switzerland and Austria took part.
The ride unofficially started with a urban ride around Bangkok, prior to the riders
meeting up in Chiang Rai. From there it was a drive to the Thai/Laos border, followed
by a 2 day boat ride down the Mekong River. The riders then cycled from Luang Prabang
to the capital city of Vientienne.

The Alps Unicycle Tour (AUT) was a long distance unicycle ride
starting in Füssen, Germany (near Munich) and ending in Geneva, Switzerland. Ten
riders unicycled through six different countries: Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein,
Switzerland, Italy and France. The riders were supported by up to five people, three
of them on bicycle. They rode 910 kilometers (565 miles) across the Alps over eight
mountain passes, climbing a total of 13,404 meters (43,965 feet).

The Danish Unicycle Tour was a long distance unicycle ride starting
in Copenhagen and ending in Skagen (the northern most point of jylland). 13 riders
unicycled the 601 km through Sjælland, Fyn and Jylland. All the lodging was on campgrounds
and home cooked food. All 13 riders rode the whole distance supported by 3 people,
one of them was on a bike. Doing the tour the newspapers took a lot of pictures
and wrote many pages about the crazy people on the unicycles.

The Norwegian Unicycle Tour (NUT) was a long distance unicycle
ride starting in Trondheim, Norway and ending in Bodø, Norway via the Lofoten Islands.
Ten unicycle riders went a total distance of 967 km (601 miles). The end of the
tour was above the Arctic Circle and coincided with the Summer Solstice. The Midnight
sun meant that riders didn't have to worry about riding in the dark as it was light
24 hours. As the route traversed the fjords of Norway, it was hilly at times and
very scenic.

36 riders mainly from New Zealand cycled from Saigon to Siem Reap
in order to raise money for the charity OXFAM. Ken Looi was the only unicyclist
in the group and managed to ride his Coker inside Angkor Wat!

Three unicyclists (all of the New York City based group, the Unatics)
rode this classic single day bike tour that has options for 35, 55, 75, and 100
mile routes. Andrew Schaff, a relative newcomer to unicycling, rode 31 miles on
a 26" wheel. John Stone rode 84 miles in 12 and a half hours (including breaks),
with an average speed of 10 mph). His brother David Stone rode 102 miles on a Coker
in about 12 hours. The brothers used extensions and 110mm cranks, and drank copiously
throughout the long, hot day. John accrued considerable knee pain during the latter
part of the ride, but was fine within a few days. The Century Tour is a yearly event
that helps promote transportation alternatives in the NYC area.

The European Unicycle Tour was a long distance unicycle ride for
21 days starting from Cologne, Germany, going through Luxembourg and France and
finally ending up in Barcelona, Spain. While the average distance per day was 83
km (52 miles), there were four non-riding days set aside for the riders to sightsee
and relax. The route was designed to avoid steep terrain by following rivers (Rhine,
Mosel, Rhône) and the Mediterranean coastline. All riders used Coker unicycles designed
for traveling the long distance. There were two support people along with a support
van that carried the riders' gear to each day's destination. As with any major physical
undertaking, each rider trained intensely to prepare for the tour.

This was a sponsered ride. Roger Davies, Paul Selwood and Sarah
Miler tackled this classic bike tour in only 38 hours. Joined briefly by Miark and
at times by two of the support team on bikes.
A real acheivement as the first day crossed two mountain ranges and the second
day was very wet.

The Unicycle Across Minnesota event took place on, Aug. 14-22,
1999! Thirty-five unicyclists took to the road to cover a distance of 477 miles
for a good cause - to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Unicyclists
from throughout the country and around the world have participated in the ride.
While about half of the unicyclists are from Minnesota, other states that were represented
include Michigan, Washington, South Dakota, Massachusetts and California. Unicyclists
from Germany, Japan and the UK also trained hard for the event. The riders unicycled
across the state of Minnesota , starting at Elmore near the Iowa border, and ending
at International Falls on the Canada border. They rode from 40 to 70 miles a day,
averaging about 10 miles per hour. They used unicycles with at least a 28" wheel.
