Day six accomplished!

Today we rode 61 miles from Crosby to Schoolcraft State Park, near Grand Rapids. (Some riders started earlier to ride an additional three miles to make up for yesterday.) On the way, we passed through Emily, Outing and Remer. The route is getting more hilly, but at least it's scenic! Lakes (where riders often take a swim), trees and winding roads make the ride interesting.

We unicycled in to Schoolcraft State Park and ate a spaghetti supper prepared by our support staff. Thanks! Tonight was the first night we didn't have a show to perform, and we all loaded up and headed to the Itascin Motel for the night.

A good proportion of the unicyclists have spent at least some time "sagging" in the RV, recooperating from injuries. But we are riding as much as we are able!

QUOTES OF THE DAY:

"I think free-mounting is over-rated." - Jenni White, who likes to use mail boxes or trucks to mount to reduce to the pain of getting on! As the days go on, mounting gets more and more precarious. :)

"My knee feels better, but my achilles hurts now. At least I have a little variety!" - Tammy Marsh

"I've got so much lubrication on it's hard to stay on the seat! Kind of like a water slide." - Dick Divine

"Why do you guys ride such weird bikes?" - kids on the side of the road

"I've got so many blisters I can't even reach the pedals." - Dick Divine to a reporter

"That feels good. Ooh, ouch!" - Jenni White and her frequent moments of relief

HIGHLIGHTS!

~ The kitty we found in the woods has become our team mascot.

~Being mooned every day (Wait, is this really a highlight?)

~Dan Heaton falling asleep while riding, drifting off the shoulder, and falling off in the gravel.

~Playing tag, reciting "Peter Piper," and telling each other our most embarrassing moments to keep our minds occupied on something other than saddle soreness.

~Exhausting tickle wars and shaving cream fights at the hotel.

ACRONYMS:

While riding, Jenni and Connie have come up with several abbreviations for common unicycling phrases. Check it out!

FD = Flying Dismount (resulting in road rash)

CFD = Controlled Flying Dismount

BS = Butt Shift (when you adjust your seat position while riding) Modification: BSWA (With Air) for getting off the uni and fanning out your shorts!

LBS = Lauching Butt Shift (Getting comfy on the seat as you start out, if possible)

Seat Suckage = "that one awful moment during dismounts when you are not one with your machine" - Jenni

BOBS = Breaks Often But Short (contributed by Andy)

Gumdrops = setting a goal for yourself at a point in the distance

RO = Random Ow

ILC = Involuntary Loss of Control

H & F = Hans and Franz - and ILC which requires flailing arms like a muscle man.

Confused? Ask Connie!
